This class is designed to give you a taste of
what the rich, dynamic, and multidimensional art form of theatre is all about. We’ll be
talking about what theatre practitioners do, looking at the processes of
acting, directing, playwriting, and design from behind the scenes. And we’ll be
reading, watching, discussing, and writing about a number of plays that
represent only a very tiny cross-section of what’s out there. It’s my hope that
you’ll continue your study of theatre long after this semester ends, whether as
artists yourselves, or as informed and engaged audience members – there’s lots
left to discover!
