This course is an introduction to concept development and ideation. We will explore and utilize practices such as: sketching, researching, mapping and prototyping. Additionally, we will integrate multi-disciplinary methodologies and processes such as self-reflection, brainstorming, collaborations, the scientific method, and taxonomy. This course seeks to engage students in inventive practice with concepts and materials. Many of the skills we will explore are applicable in design-oriented fields within the sciences, engineering, film/video production and entrepreneurship, in addition to visual art.
