Golf for Beginners offers students an immersive introduction to the fundamentals of golf, combining hands-on instruction with an exploration of the game’s history, etiquette, and mental strategies. This course aligns with Wofford’s Interim mission by fostering skill development, encouraging students to take initiative in mastering a new sport, and promoting collaboration through group practice and play. Unlike traditional academic courses, this experience is primarily active and experiential, with students learning through direct engagement on the course and the driving range. Instruction will focus on swing mechanics, putting, chipping, course management, and golf etiquette. Students should expect to spend significant time outside of class practicing and refining their skills. While scheduled sessions will take place at local golf facilities, additional independent or group practice is encouraged to maximize improvement. No prior golf experience is required—just a willingness to step out of one’s comfort zone, embrace the learning process, and enjoy the challenges and rewards of the game.
