This section of Humanities 101 will focus on the human conflicts in short stories--the problems that plague us, the dilemmas that bewilder us, the values that guide us. We'll read closely some of the best contemporary short stories published in the U.S., we'll write two analytical papers, and we'll also write two pieces of fiction of our own. In both reading and writing, we'll study the elements of the form and discuss the issues and values therein,
